Health Law and Advancing Equitable Access to Care for Youth

The American University Washington College of Law Health Law and Policy Program, with the support of the American University Center on Health, Risk and Society, is pleased to host a one-day symposium, Health Law and Advancing Equitable Access to Care for Youth, on Friday, April 11th from 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM ET (in- person and virtually).

This symposium will bring together a diverse group of experts in law, medicine, public health, sociology, and more to address critical barriers to health care access for children and adolescents, featuring a keynote address from Representative Arvind Venkat, who serves as the State Representative for the 30th Legislative District of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Expert panelists will examine a range of interconnected policy challenges to youth access to healthcare, including how social determinants and educational systems shape youth health outcomes, challenges and solutions for LGBTQ+ youth access to health care, the evolving landscape of reproductive health care for adolescents post-Dobbs, and improving access to youth mental health services.
